XMG to Release Ghostbusters iOS Game

Mobile gaming developer, XMG Studios has announced that they are developing a Ghostbusters iOS game that they hope to release in mid-2012. The game will be a location-based adventure that will make us of a GPS-type map to find the ghosts.

Players will be required to find and bust the ghosts which will be in familiar locations. It will use a foursquare-style service to set the location of the ghosts so you may be notified that there is a ghost in your local coffee shop. When you near a location, your iPhone will become a PKE monitor, the spirit-detecting gadget that is found in the film. Busting ghosts will allow you to obtain upgrades and items.

Last year, XMG released inspector Gadget’s Mad Dash HD and they currently have an app out about Degrassi High, the Canadian television series. Adam Telfer, VP of Game Development at XMG described the growth of the company as explosive. It was launched with six people working on one game, but has now grown to 45 employees.

Telfer has said that XMG is looking to co-produce titles and license big properties. They are currently working on a number of other impressive titles. Drag Racing: World is a sequel to their Drag Racer: Pro Tuner and it will be released for Android and iOS in April.

FashionStar Boutique allows you to manage your online fashion line and store and it will also be released for Android and iOS in April. Totally Amp’ed is the name of the series based on the Canadian show Degrassi High and it involves ten episodes with characters from the show. It is the latest release by XMG, but there is still plenty in the works.

Regarding Ghostbusters, Ray Sharma, CEO of XMG Studios predicted that “it will be the best augmented reality game ever.”
