TeamSnap, a leading online service for sport team and league management, has announced that 36 percent of their daily visits come from mobile device users. This is up from almost nothing two years ago.
The TeamSnap iPhone app can be accessed directly on a smartphone and allows users to access contact information for coaches, parents and players, send emails and text messages to the team about last minute changes in location or schedule and access maps and directions to games.
“We at TeamSnap are deeply embedded in the technology world and well aware of the growing use of mobile devices to access and share information. Even we are blown away, however, by the growth in mobile device traffic to TeamSnap, especially since we only have the iPhone app today. It just shows how valuable mobile functionality is for sports team customers,” said CEO if TeamSnap, Dave DuPont.
“Today, more than one third of our user visits are from a mobile device, and that figure is climbing rapidly.”
DuPont has said that he expects visits to TeamSnap on mobile devices to reach up to 50 percent of their total visits over the course of the year. In the next few weeks, TeamSnap is planning to launch an Android app and they are currently developing a Blackberry and Windows 7 app. In addition, the iPhone app will see some improvements and an iPad optimized app will be released as well.
“TeamSnap is about making life easier for everyone involved with sports,” said DuPont. “Sports aren’t played next to the home PC; they happen on the field, in the gym, on the rink or in the water. If that’s where our team members and parents are, that is where we need to be. We see an exciting year ahead for TeamSnap mobile development.”
